Hello everyone and welcome to the second Summer Blog Promo Tour post! Today, I have my fabulous friend Claire from Blank Slaters here and together, we're going to talk about 6 books that take place on our turf, the Bay Area! (Or San Francisco. Or Northern California.) There aren't many books that take place here so when books do, people like us know. So, here are 6 books that take place in the fabulous Bay Area! Read them all! Experience the glory of our home. Enjoy. :)

6 Books That Take Place in the Bay Area

Claire // Angelfall by Susan Ee
Angelfall by Susan Ee is paranormal romance, post apocalyptic YA novel that takes place in Silicon Valley. Also known as the bay area and San Francisco-ish. I bet you can guess what Angelfall is about. Yep, you guessed, it ANGELS! Only these angels aren’t the fluffy forgiving type, no, the angels in Angelfall are out to destroy the human race. Angelfall by Susan Ee is definitely a light read that is most certainly entertaining. As it does take place in the area Kaitlin and I live, it is also really fun to read about the familiar sights throughout the book.

Kaitlin // Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee
Stacey Lee is one of my favorite authors and I was really excited for Outrun the Moon when I found out this book takes place in San Francisco. It is definitely a lot different than the other books in this list because of the fact that it takes place about 100 years back. It was interesting to read about historical San Francisco but still be able to identify some places that were in this book. (Streets, parks, neighborhoods ect) And location definitely takes a huge part in this book as the book does surround that 1906 earthquake that only happened in San Francisco. This is definitely a great read for someone who wants to get into historical fiction and explore historic San Fran! And has a POC main character!

Claire // Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Lola and the Boy Next Door is probably the cutest book ever. Taking place in San Francisco, California, Lola and the Boy Next Door is the perfect book if you are looking for fuzz. Everything about it is super fuzzy and sweet. The writing is also amazing. The premise of the story is of course, the boy next door! Cricket Bell is our sweetheart of this book! I ate this book up in one day, seriously, my eyes were glued to the page. If you haven’t read this book yet, please do, not only because it is amazing, but you can also get a taste of San Francisco in Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Kaitlin // Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
Every Last Word is such a fabulous book, as it surrounds a girl with OCD and how she stumbles among this group of people who write poems. I thought it was a very fabulous book because it covered a lot of topics. Unhealthy friendships, the topic of OCD and how that affects people (in a way that most people don't suspect), and also has beautiful writing. The location of the book doesn't really play a huge part in the book but as someone who does live in the Bay Area, I was able to identify the fact that this book did take place in the Bay Area based on the places that were referenced in the book.

Claire // The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell
The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell is basically awesome times ten. If you guys remember, on ABC “Freeform” this book series was a TV show for one season. It wasn’t very good. But the books are a lot better and what better setting than the sunny golden San Francisco to take place in! The premise of the story is we have our main character Chloe, who has nine lives. She discovers this when she falls off Coit Tower and survives and then all kinds of bad stuff unravels after that. The Nine Lives of Chloe King is definitely a quick paced read and full of romance, shuriken, and action!

Kaitlin // On the Fence by Kasie West
This is one of my more recent reads. It's a very cute contemporary novel basically about a girl who wants to push herself out of the sibling-zone (like friend-zone, except that friend considers you a sibling?). Now, the author never straight up tells readers that this book takes place in the Bay Area. Heck! To any person that doesn't live in the Bay Area, you probably wouldn't be able to tell because the only real giveaway of this book taking place in the Bay Area was the fact that the main character's family supported the A's (Oakland) and went to see a home game. The location of the book doesn't really play a huge part of the book, but it still felt nice to be able to identify where the book takes place based on the different Bay Area references made throughout the book.

So tell me: Have you heard of any of these books? Have you read any of them? What books have you read that take place in the Bay Area?
